Gaza Rocket Fire at Israel Intensifies Again

Recent rocket attacks from terrorists in the Gaza Strip at Israel have seen more serious and dangerous launchings than the “homemade” Qassam rockets that are often fired. According to the IDF website, multiple Grad rockets, which can typically travel further than Qassams as well, were fired at Israel in early August. In response to one such attack on August 4, the IDF said the Israel Air Force (IAF) targeted the launch site location for the rocket squad.

That response comes after the IAF also targeted multiple terror activity sites and smuggling tunnels in response to previous rocket attacks. Over 340 rockets and mortars have been fired from Gaza at Israel in 2011, including one that injured a civilian early this month.

The Israeli military said in a statement posted on their website on August 2, “The IDF will not allow the Israeli southern communities to continue living under constant threat, and will continue to respond with determination to any attempt to use terror against the citizens of Israel. The IDF holds the Hamas terrorist organization solely responsible for any terrorist activity emanating from the Gaza Strip.”
