Gaza rocket attacks are making headlines in Israel again this month, with another strike joining a Palestinian knife attack to make a violent weekend—while in both cases Israel defended itself. The knife incident occurred on Sunday, in which Palestinians attacked an Israeli civilian at a gas station, reported the IDF Spokesperson’s Twitter feed. Israeli security forces fired at the attackers in response.

This follows the rocket that was fired last Friday at civilians in Israel’s south. It landed in an open area and no injuries were reported according to the IDF press release. In response, the IDF hit Hamas terror infrastructure in Gaza and made it clear they won’t accept such attacks.

“Israelis and Palestinians deserve to live normal lives but instead terrorists choose to use the Gaza Strip as a launch pad for rocket attacks,” said IDF Spokesman Lt. Col. Peter Lerner in the press release. He said that during August, multiple rockets were launched at southern Israel, but most have landed short and hit in the Gaza Strip instead.

The IDF spokesman ended his statement with a warning to Hamas, which runs the Gaza Strip and is held accountable for all terror attacks emanating from there. Said Lerner, “Hamas must fulfill its responsibilities or face the consequences.”
