Israel Nabs Terror Cell that Attempted Kidnappings

A Palestinian terror cell that attempted multiple unsuccessful kidnappings of Israelis in March was arrested by Israeli security forces and recently indicted in court. According to a report on the IDF website, the nine-member cell violently attempted to stop Israeli drivers and kidnap them on multiple occasions, with the Israelis escaping each time.

The IDF said the cell intended to video the kidnapping and post it online in an effort to exchange the Israeli civilians for Palestinian prisoners. The attackers planned to use electric shockers, clubs and tear gas.

In one incident, an Israeli woman and her baby daughter were stopped on the road by the terrorist cell around midnight. The Palestinians managed to shatter the woman’s windshield, but she and her daughter escaped after another Israeli vehicle came to the scene.

The attempted kidnappings came less than six months after Israel released hundreds of Palestinians, including terrorists with blood on their hands, in exchange for kidnapped IDF soldier Gilad Shalit last October.

The captured terrorists are affiliated with the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine organization. The Israel Security Agency (Shin Bet) was quoted as saying in the IDF report, “This represents the motives of terror organization to kidnap Israelis and the threats they pose.”
