Iran’s top diplomat, Foreign Minister Javad Zarif, has been filmed joining in with a crowd chanting, “Death to America” and “Death to Britain.” The video, which was originally published by the Young Journalists Club news group in Iran but does not indicate the date of the event, also shows the crowd chanting “Death to Israel” and “Death to Muslims who do not support us!”

The clip with English subtitles was posted to Twitter last week by Israeli Prime Minister’s Office spokesman Ofir Gendelman. In the tweet, Gendelman noted, “Here is Iran’s ‘moderate’ Foreign Minister @JZarif CAUGHT chanting ‘Death to America, death to Britain.’ Iran calls daily to annihilate other countries and sponsors terrorism worldwide. As Iran’s nuclear archives proved, it worked on developing nukes. Don’t let Iran do that.”

Zarif has repeatedly opposed the United States for backing out of the international nuclear deal between Iran and the major world powers, so his anti-American sentiments are already known. The British, however, were also a recipient of a Zarif “death” chant, and they remain a partner to the Iran nuclear deal.

On Sunday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that he spoke with US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and expressed his appreciation for the “determined position of the US administration regarding the nuclear agreement with Iran and against Iranian aggression in our region.”

In the comments, which were delivered at the weekly cabinet meeting and released by Netanyahu’s office, the Israeli leader said of Iran, “The regime in Tehran is the main element undermining stability in the Middle East. The campaign against its aggression is not over; we are still in the midst of it.”

And Israel’s isn’t just talking about Iran. The Israelis have launched multiple air strikes in Syrian territory to counter the anti-Israel actions there of Iran and Iranian proxies such as Hezbollah.

“We are working to prevent Iran from achieving nuclear weapons. At the same time we are working against the establishment of an Iranian military presence against us; to this end we are also operating against the transfer of deadly weapons from Syria to Lebanon or their manufacture in Lebanon,” said Netanyahu.

“All of these weapons are for use against the State of Israel and it is our right—based on the right of self-defense—to prevent their manufacture or transfer.”
