A high-ranking Iranian official openly congratulated a Palestinian terror group for being able to hit all of Israel with missiles during the last war with Gaza, according to the Fars News Agency. Those Palestinian missiles were launched indiscriminately at civilian areas in Israel, including the major cities of Jerusalem and Tel Aviv.
But that seems to be a triumph and not a war crime according to Chairman of Iran’s Expediency Council (EC) Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani. The former president of Iran was quoted as telling a visiting Palestinian terror leader that “if you want to bring the Israeli army to its knees through you resistance, you should plan for new phases to surprise everyone again.”
Fars noted the similarity between the latest Iranian comments and those from the leader of Iran during the Gaza war. Fars quoted Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei as saying at the time that the West Bank Palestinians should be armed like Gaza. For their part, Iran has long supported Palestinian terrorism with funds and weapons.
In light of Iran’s open hostility towards Israel and the West, as well as the Iranian support for terror, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has repeatedly warned against allowing the Iranians to develop nuclear weapons. He did so again this week in comments released by his office.
“We are facing the danger of an agreement with the major powers that will leave Iran as a nuclear threshold state, with thousands of centrifuges with which it will be able to produce a nuclear bomb within a short period of time. This is a threat to the entire world, especially Israel, and is much more severe than the threat from ISIS.”
