IDF Thwarts Rocket Attack

October has proven a violent month in the Gaza-Israel conflict, and that continued on Sunday as the Israeli Air Force hit a terror squad preparing to fire a rocket at Israel. A press statement on the IDF website said that the interception resulted in “secondary explosions,” implying the explosives for the rocket launch went off in the hit.

The incident comes as more than 150 rockets have been fired at Israel from Gaza in the month of October, including a substantial surge last week. Roughly a quarter of the rockets that have hit Israel for the entire year were fired this month.

While the IDF did not identify which terror group technically carried out Sunday’s thwarted attack, the responsibility for “any terrorist activity” was again placed on the Gaza-ruling Hamas group. In the past Hamas has reined in groups or been accused of using them as proxies against Israel.

Said the IDF statement, “The IDF will not tolerate any attempt to harm Israeli civilians, and will operate against anyone who uses terror against the State of Israel.”
