Eight Injured in Tel Aviv Terror Attack

Eight people were injured in a terror attack in Tel Aviv early Monday morning when a man from the town of Nablus in the West Bank stole a taxi and drove it into border police officers who were near a nightclub. The assailant then got out of the car and began attacking people with a knife, wounding six more, including three civilians. He was eventually arrested.

The club in Tel Aviv was hosting a party for teenagers, with the Israel Police Twitter feed quoting Police Commissioner Yohanan Danino as saying more than 1000 people were present there. Danino said a disaster had been prevented.

The attack appears similar to the “lone-wolf” vehicle attacks that struck Jerusalem in the last three years, including a vicious bulldozer attack in 2008 in which the terrorist killed three people.

The latest incident in Tel Aviv also appears to be an intentional terror attack, particularly since the statement on the event posted on the Israel Police website said the man could be heard saying an Islamic refrain in Arabic. The Police statement said that multiple people hit in the attack were hospitalized.
