The Syrian government of dictator Bashar al-Assad continues its violent assault against anti-government protesters in the country, with well over a thousand killed in the months-long protests. Dr. Jonathan Spyer, senior research fellow at the Global Research in International Affairs (GLORIA) Center at IDC-Herziliya in Israel and an expert on Syria, spoke with The Mideast Update last week by phone to discuss the situation.
